The OrthoK Clinic is a specialty of Eyecare Concepts, Melbourne's dedicated home of myopia management since 2017 — built on one founder's personal experience of growing up with high myopia, and his mission to give today's children better options than he had.
We're not your standard glasses shop. Our therapeutically-qualified optometrists are endorsed to diagnose and treat a wide range of eye conditions, and our purpose-built rooms are dedicated to clinical care, equipped with a complete suite of advanced diagnostic technologies.
Childhood myopia is a genuine global health issue, not just a matter of needing glasses — cases are rising earlier and faster than ever before, in Australia and worldwide.
We offer the complete range of evidence-based myopia management options — optical and medical — so families get our honest, unbiased opinion on what's genuinely best for their child.
What began as a general optometry practice in Kew East in 2017 has grown into a dedicated Myopia Clinic, now looking after patients from across Melbourne and beyond.
Our clinic is equipped with advanced diagnostic and imaging technologies, allowing us to deliver the highest standards of eye care and precision at every visit.

Philip was first prescribed glasses at just seven years old, and his prescription kept climbing throughout childhood — a familiar story for many high myopes. Today he lives with high myopia of over −8.00D and a significantly elongated eye, which carries a genuinely higher lifetime risk of conditions like retinal detachment, glaucoma and myopic macular degeneration. He's experienced some of that firsthand, including a vitreous detachment that still leaves him with persistent floaters.
"Today's kids have opportunities that I never had growing up with myopia."
That lived experience is what led Philip to myopia management in 2016, after an educational event honouring the late Professor Brien Holden sparked what became a career-defining focus. In 2017 he opened Eyecare Concepts as an independent practice in Kew East — starting out in general optometry before growing into a dedicated destination clinic for myopia management, now caring for thousands of patients and consistently ranked among Melbourne's Top 3 Optometrists. Orthokeratology has become the clinic's single most popular treatment, and Philip's own experience as a high myope continues to shape a practice built around giving children better options than he had.
Every OrthoK lens we fit is custom designed by one of our experienced, therapeutically-endorsed optometrists.
A Fellow of the International Academy of Orthokeratology & Myopia Control since 2020, and a board member of the Orthokeratology Society of Oceania. Philip has personally designed and fitted OrthoK lenses for thousands of patients, from straightforward prescriptions through to complex high myopia and astigmatism.
A therapeutically-endorsed Doctor of Optometry with a postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Contact Lenses. Jessica has a special interest in OrthoK, scleral and custom RGP lenses, and works closely with children starting their OrthoK journey.
With more than 18 years of clinical experience across Melbourne and Adelaide, Loretta brings extensive expertise in myopia management and specialty contact lens fitting. She consults in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
Behind every OrthoK fitting is our experienced clinical support team — skilled OrthoK and contact lens wearers themselves, who patiently and expertly teach our patients, especially children, how to insert, remove and care for their lenses for the very first time. Their hands-on guidance is a big part of why so many families feel confident and supported through their OrthoK journey.
Our team would love to help you or your child see clearly, without glasses or daytime contacts.
